The Bobby Charlton Soccer Schools’ Legacy
Sir Bobby Charlton inspired generations through football.
As one of the greatest players of all time, his achievements will always be part of football history. But Sir Bobby’s legacy was never only measured in trophies, medals or goals. It was measured in the people he helped, the standards he set and the opportunities he created for others.
Launched in 1979, the Bobby Charlton Soccer Schools helped bring structured football coaching to young people at scale. For thousands of children, it was a chance to learn the game, build confidence, make friends and experience the values that defined Sir Bobby throughout his life – discipline, teamwork, humility, respect and a belief in doing things properly.

You may have gone on to play football. You may have built a career in business, education, public service, a trade, community work or something completely different. Whatever path you took, we would love to hear what the Soccer Schools meant to you and what you carried with you into later life.
This campaign is about celebrating Sir Bobby’s living legacy through the people he inspired.
It is also about shining a light on the work of the Sir Bobby Charlton Foundation today. Founded by Sir Bobby in 2011, the Foundation uses the power of football to support people and communities affected by conflict and war.
Sir Bobby believed football could create hope, opportunity and connection. The Soccer Schools showed that belief in action. The Foundation continues that mission today.
